Dr. Mahreen Ameen

Dr. Mahreen Ameen

Consultant Dermatologist at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

Mahreen completed her preclinical medical training at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge University, and her clinical medical training at St Bartholomew's Hospital Medical School London. She obtained a bachelors degree in social and political sciences from Cambridge University, and a masters degree in public health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Her doctoral research in psoriasis genetics was conducted at St John's Institue of Dermatology, London and King's college, London University. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. She completed her dermatology residency in London, and was appointed a consultant in 2005. Her clinical work is in both adult and paediatric dermatology. Her present research interests are in the field of atopic dermatitis, and she leads a large tertiary level severe atopic dermatitis service. She has been a principal and chief investigator of key pivotal drug investigational trials in atopic dermatitis. Previously, Mahreen pursued her interest in HIV and tropical dermatology for several years studying and working in centres in Latin America and Sub-Saharan Africa (King Edward VIII Hospital in Durban, South Africa, the Regional Dermatology Training Centre in Durban, Tanzania, the Institute of Tropical Medicine in Manaus, Brazil, the mycology department at Gea Gonzalez Hospital in Mexico City, Mexico, ALERT hospital, Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia, and Alexander von Humboldt Insitute of Tropical Medicine, Lima, Peru), and has published extensively in cutaneous leishmaniasis and mycology.

Dr. Pascal H.P. de Jong

Rheumatologist and Epidemiologist at the Rheumatology Department of the Erasmus MC, Rotterdam

Pascal H.P. de Jong started studying medicine at the Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1999 and obtained his medical degree in 2005. In 2008 he started working as a PhD student at the Erasmus MC under the supervision of Prof. Dr. J.M.W. Hazes and Dr. A.E.A.M. Weel. He obtained his PhD degree in 2013 on the thesis “Management of Early Rheumatoid Arthritis: Solving the Unresolved”. In this period he'd also participated in the Master of Science program Clinical Epidemiology by the NIHES (Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences), from which he graduated in 2011.

Currently, Dr de Jong is working as a Rheumatologist and Epidemiologist at the Department of Rheumatology of the Erasmus MC. His research focuses on individualizing/optimizing the management of inflammatory (rheumatoid) arthritis by exploring different possibilities from a clinical, patient as well as a societal point of view. For this purpose he has set up multiple (ongoing), clinical cohorts of which he is the Principle Investigator.

Thomas Rustemeyer is Professor in Dermato-Allergology and Occupational Dermatology at the Department of Dermatology-Allergology at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers, The Netherlands. He is supervisor of immunological research of the university.
He started his clinical training under supervision of Peter Frosch in Dortmund, Germany.
After several years he has moved to Amsterdam for education in fundamental
immunology. After getting his PhD in immunology, he restarted his dermatological
training at the same university. He joined the department of Derk Bruynzeel and was
further trained in dermato-allergology and occupational dermatology. After the
retirement of Derk Bruynzeel he took over the responsibility of the department. Since
then, he is active in supervising patient’s care and research addressing fundamental
immunological as well translational research topics. Since many years, he is involved in patients’ care and research related to dental materials and oral cavity problems. He is (co-)author of more than 300 publications and editor of different textbooks. He is member and/or chairperson of various national and international societies active in dermato-allergology, immunology and occupational health, including governmental and regulatory affairs.

Professor Silivo Danese

Gastroenterologist and Professor of Gastroenterology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, Italy

Silvio Danese is a Gastroenterologist and Professor of Gastroenterology at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University and IRCCS San Raffaele Hospital, Milan, Italy, since October 2021, where he is Head Gastroenterology and Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Unit.

Before that, Prof Danese was Head of IBD Centre and ImmunoCentre at IRCCS Humanitas, Rozzano, Milan, Italy, and Professor of Gastroenterology at Humanitas University.

Silvio Danese trained in Gastroenterology at Policlinico Gemelli, Rome and graduated as a PhD, working from 2001 to 2004 in Dr Claudio Fiocchi’s laboratory at the Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, Ohio, USA. His main research area of interest is the investigation of the fundamental mechanisms underlying IBD pathogenesis, while his daily clinical activity is related to IBD service. He is actively involved in many international clinical trials in IBD and has published more than 700 papers in several journals, including New England Journal of Medicine, Lancet, Gastroenterology, Gut, Journal of Clinical Investigation. He is a member of many organizations related to the IBD field, including the European Crohn´s and Colitis Organization (ECCO), where he is Past President (2018 – 2020).
